Dr. Seuss Relief Sculptures

I overheard the kids say that this was their all time favorite project yet! Wow, now that's a compliment! I loved how they turned out as well. This took three weeks to complete. The first week they built their sculptures with newspaper, tape, and plaster on the rolls on a canvas. The second weeks were spent painting. 5th graders.

Fabric Mache Birds

These little guys still need beaks and eyes. Some were able to finish theirs in time but the others had to wait. These birds had a foil base. Then the kids dipped strips of fabric in a glue/water mixture and wrapped the foil till covered. The clay made for a great rock base to keep our bird friends standing. Make sure to bend the bottom of the bird feet so they don't slip so easily out of the clay once it's dried.

More Fantasy Drawings

I love how I come to the class with an idea and then by the end of the class the drawing has totally transformed. I sometimes wonder what the parents think when they see some of these crazy drawings? So giants, dragons, and birthday sea monsters. Enjoy!

Fairy Tree Houses and Castles

These drawings take up the full hour so the Club House Artists don't get time to add much shading or shadows. They are to work on them at home for homework, but I still like taking an in progress photo because they are so awesome that I can't wait to share! Ages 6-10. Enjoy!
