Amazing Beginnings

It's always amazing to see student drawings at the end of the first class. They learn so quickly and my youngest ones are always surprising me with their abilities to catch on so quickly as well. Don't be fooled. Any artists at any age can quickly transform their drawings once they learn the "tool box" words. These are the secret success in making any drawing appear to be 3-D!!!!

Cakes for Celebrating!

To start off the series we celebrated by learning how to draw a basic cake. The kids really liked this idea and added their own decorations and designs. A (age 6) took it further and made it a layered wedding cake! She used her toolbox words. I see the horizon line for the table, shading on the cakes, and the shadow on the table. She also used foreshortened circles! And check out her details. I love the cake topper!

It was amusing to hear all the words the kids made up when they couldn't remember the tool box word for foreshortened circles. I'll have to write them all down so I can remember for the posts next time. Did I mention the kids are super genuises!
