We started a two week pottery project and the Club House Artists were ecstatic. You wouldn't think they'd ever touched playdoh, except this time we were using clay. I'm guessing it was a totally different experience for them. They loved it. This week we designed our mugs and next week we will paint them in a split complimentary color scheme.

Warm Vs. Cool
The Club House Artists learned about warm colors and cool colors. The assignment was to use warm colors for the tea cup and saucer and cool colors for the background. Or they could do the opposite. Once they started coloring their focus on the color schemes was lost for some. But the drawings turned out great anyways. Here are a few.

Color Harmony
I was glad the Club House Artists took the homework challenge of creating a found object color wheel. Check out some of their solutions.
Since they completed their color wheels we began a session on Color Harmony. They learned about complimentary colors, triads, split complimentary, and analogous color schemes.
The drawings were a bit rushed, but they were going for a split complimentary drawings.

The Start of the Color Wheel
The Club House Artists are starting a session on the color wheel. We are planning on using the wheel for many future projects so we've also laminated them. They reviewed primary colors, secondary colors, and tertiary colors. Oh, there's homework now as well.
Can you believe the color wheel above was colored by a 5 yr old? |
